Noir Romance at Nikola Estate

For Nikola Estate’s open day in the Swan Valley, we approached the space as we would a full wedding, creating a series of moments that moved from light and open to layered and immersive. As a wedding planner and stylist, our focus was on demonstrating how thoughtful wedding design can shape a vineyard wedding setting, from a ceremony beneath the pines through to an evening reception within the barrel room.

At Nikola Estate, the experience was designed to unfold gradually, beginning outdoors beneath the pines.
The ceremony was intentionally restrained. Chairs set lightly into the grass, florals kept low and textural, allowing the natural surroundings to lead. The light filtered softly through the trees, creating a setting that felt calm, open, and quietly romantic without being overworked.
It was less about creating a statement and more about allowing the space to hold the moment.
From there, the atmosphere shifted as guests moved into the barrel room.
The palette deepened into plum, layered against warm neutrals and soft candlelight. Long tables anchored the space, with sculptural florals and refined detailing drawing the eye without overwhelming it. The focus wasn’t on any one element, but on how everything came together to create a cohesive, immersive setting.
An exploration of contrast, layered in light and shadow, where details revealed themselves slowly as the evening settled in.
There’s a natural balance within this kind of design. A meeting point between structure and softness that allows the space to feel elevated, yet still relaxed. A look that sits comfortably in that space of softly structured romance, where nothing feels too rigid, yet everything feels intentional.
As the chandeliers began to glow and the room settled into evening, the overall feeling shifted again. The space softened, becoming more intimate, more enveloping, quietly indulgent in its detail… refined after dark.
And throughout it all, that warmth remained; a setting designed not just to be seen, but to be experienced… where candlelight lingers.
A Day In Motion
For a closer look at how the space moved and felt throughout the day, we’ve shared a series of short films below.
